The Hair Chronicles Vol. 2

As mentioned previously, hair retouching can be quite a task. To do it well takes a lot of time, patience and practice. Often, different sections of the hair from different images needs to be combined convincingly into one picture to get it looking just right. Every stray strand needs to be removed or straightened individually. Highlights and shadows needs to be altered to give it the right shine and volume. A single image can take hours to complete. Even days if it's for a high end client.

So next time you look at those shampoo bottles and hair dye boxes in the stores, just spare a thought for the retoucher who had to sit, glued to his computer to produce that.
